Ok, so I haven’t given news in a while but I am sooo busy here! I arrived in Basankusu on the 27th of September and have been very busy since I got here.
Last Thursday I went to Ekolo, the site where we released the Bonobos in June, to see how things have progressed over there and to see what work still needs to be done. I went and saw the bonobos who are all doing great, and I got to see baby Nsomi, Etumbe’s new baby who she gave birth to on the 18th of July this year. She is very cute, all gums and very vocal!
I also had my reunion with my two puppies, who have gotten so big. Minie was in Basankusu when I first arrived and to my great joy she recognised me instantly and went crazy on me. Back into old habits she follows me everywhere. When I went to Ekolo I saw my Pouf-pouf, he has gotten so big and he is absolutely beautiful, very healthy looking… when he recognised me he almost killed me jumping all over me, scratching me up with his claws and crying at me. I was so happy to see them both again. They are now both with me in Basankusu as I have to train them up a bit as they are rather disobedient!
Other than that it is work, work, work. I start at 8am and finish around 4-5pm. I am exhausted by the end of the day, take a shower, eat some food and go to bed basically! The upside of it all is that time is whizzing by… Christmas will be along soon and I will be heading back to Kinshasa to celebrate!

Ok, ben je n’ai pas donné de nouvelles depuis un bon moment mais je suis tellement occupée ici ! Je suis arrivée à Basankusu le 27 septembre et je ne me suis pas arrêté depuis.
Jeudi dernier je suis allé à Ekolo, le site de la réintroduction des bonobos, pour voir comment ont progressé les choses là-bas et quels travaux il reste à faire. Je suis aller voir les bonobos qui vont bien et j’ai pu voir bébé Nsomi, la dernière d’Etumbe qui est née le 18 juillet de cette année. Elle est très mignonne, plein de gencives et très vocale !
J’ai aussi pu me réunir avec mes deux chiots qui ont tellement grandit. Minie été déjà à Basankusu dès mon arrivée et à ma plus grande joie elle m’a reconnu tout de suite et a fait sa folle de m’avoir retrouvé. Just comme auparavant elle me suit partout. Quand j’été à Ekolo j’ai vu mon Pouf-pouf, il est tellement grand maintenant et il est magnifique, en très bonne santé… quand il m’a reconnu il a failli me tuer a me sauter dessus, a me griffer avec ses longues griffes tout en pleurant. J’étais tellement contente de les revoir. Ils sont maintenant tout les deux avec moi à Basankusu pour que je les dresse un peu car ils sont peu obéissants !
Appart ça… boulot, boulot, boulot. Je commence le matin dès 8hr et je finis entre 16 et 17hr. A la fin de la journée je suis exténué, je me lave, je mange et je me couche ! L’avantage à tout ça c’est que le temps passe hyper vite… Noël va bientôt arrivée et je retourne à Kinshasa pour les fêtes !
