So my ticket is booked. I will be leaving London, Heathrow for Kinshasa, N'djili in the DRC on the 9th October to return on the 24th June 2009!
I'll be spending three weeks volunteering in the Bonobo sanctuary "Lola ya Bonobo" after which, I will fly north to the town of Basankusu. From here I will continue my journey in a dugout canoe, upriver, to finally reach the research camp based in the Lomako Yokokala Faunal Reserve... on foot...once arrived I will be staying there for 8 months!
WHY? Well for those of you who don't know I am going to be following Bonobos around the forest, making observations and studying them alongside researchers working for the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF). I can't wait to see Bonobos in their natural habitat! I'm getting so excited!
Preparation for the trip is a bit slow...still hoping on getting a bit of sponsor money through but haven't heard anything back yet...
There are so many things to think about though! I mean I have to admit I'm really not quite sure what I'll need living in a camp in the middle of the rainforest for 8 months!
In the meantime I am making the most of my friends and family here in France before I leave. Not to mention waiting for my new niece or nephew to arrive!!!

Je vais passer trois semaines à faire du bénévolat au sanctuaire de Bonobos "Lola ya Bonobo". A la suite de ces trois semaines, je m'envole vers la ville de Basankusu dans le nord (province Equateur) d'où je continuerai en pirogue pour ensuite finir le voyage à pied avant d'arriver au camp de recherche dans la forêt de Lomako...une fois arrivée, j'y resterai pendant 8 mois!
Pourquoi? Et bien, pour ceux d'entre vous qui ne le savent pas, je pars faire de la recherche scientifique sur les grands singes Bonobos. Je vais les suivre et les observer auprès de chercheurs de l'AWF. Je m'impatiente de voir les Bonobos dans leur milieu naturel! Je commence à vraiment avoir hâte!
Les préparations se font petit à petit...j'espère toujours recevoir un peu de soutien financier par des sponsors...mais pour le moment pas de nouvelles...
Et puis il y a tellement de choses auxquelles je dois penser! J'avoue que je suis pas sûre de ce qu'il me faudra pour un séjour de 8 mois au milieu de la jungle!
En attendant, je profite de ma famille et de mes amis ici en France avant de partir. Sans oublier que j'attends la naissance d'une petite nièce ou d'un petit neveu!!!
